Thomas J. Lloyd III

Law Practice

Tom is an Idaho native, born and raised in eastern Idaho. As an avid outdoorsman, Tom grew up with a strong appreciation for the quality of life and the sense of community that Idaho has to offer. This appreciation drew him back to Idaho following law school in the East Coast.

After graduating from the University of Idaho, Tom pursued his legal education in our nation’s capital, and obtained his Juris Doctorate at The George Washington University Law School in 2007. During law school, Tom supplemented his classroom education with practical experience working both at a small civil litigation firm in Washington, D.C., and at the D.C. Employment Justice Center, a non-profit organization that serves underrepresented workers. Additionally, in his final summer of law school, Tom externed with the Boise office of Idaho Legal Aid, where he increased his practical and in-court experience representing victims of domestic and sexual abuse, and where he fell in love with the City of Boise.

Upon permanently relocating to Boise after law school, Tom joined a civil litigation firm primarily in personal injury and employment law, until joining GBSO in 2009. Tom brought his diverse experience to GBSO, where he focuses his practice on complex litigation over a wide range of subjects, including employment, products liability, business contracts, business transactions, corporations, real estate, eminent domain, and commercial paper. Having become a Partner in the firm in 2014, Tom's clients now run the gamut of private individuals to major national banks, in addition to real estate development partnerships, national and international corporations, and local businesses.

In addition to the practice of law, Tom believes strongly in the importance of community involvement as a tool for both personal development and societal stewardship. He served for several years as the President of the Board of Directors of Giraffe Laugh, Inc., a non-profit childhood development organization in Boise, and continues to be an active Board Member in that organization. He also participates in and contributes to a number of local organizations dedicated to maximizing and preserving the livability of Boise, coaches youth soccer, and maintains a running streak of at least one mile per day since August 1, 2011 (without a single day off in that time).

In 2009, Tom was recognized with the Idaho Business Review’s Accomplished Under 40 award as an up and coming leader in the community based on his various activities and commitments. In 2017, Super Lawyers recognized him as a "Rising Star" among top rated litigation attorneys.
