Thomas J. Lloyd III

Biography

Tom is an Idaho native, born and raised in eastern Idaho. As an avid outdoorsman, Tom grew up with a strong appreciation for the quality of life and the sense of community that Idaho has to offer. This appreciation drew him back to Idaho following law school on the East Coast.

After completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Idaho, Tom pursued his legal education in our nation’s capital, and obtained his Juris Doctorate at The George Washington University Law School in 2007.  He then relocated to Boise and joined a small civil litigation practice until joining GBSO in 2009. Since joining GBSO, he has focused his practice on complex litigation over a wide range of subjects, including business contracts, banking, employment, products liability, real estate, eminent domain, and commercial paper. Having become a Partner in the firm in 2014, Tom's clients now run the gamut of private individuals to major national banks, in addition to real estate development partnerships, national and international corporations, and local businesses.

In addition to the practice of law, Tom believes strongly in the importance of civic involvement as a tool for both personal development and community stewardship. He served for several years as the President of the Board of Directors of Giraffe Laugh, Inc., a non-profit early childhood education and development organization in Boise, and continues to be an active advocate for that organization. He also participates in and contributes to a number of local organizations dedicated to maximizing and preserving the livability of Boise, coaches youth soccer, and maintains a running streak of at least one mile per day since August 1, 2011 (without a single day off in that time).

In 2009, Tom was recognized with the Idaho Business Review’s Accomplished Under 40 award as an up and coming leader in the community based on his various activities and commitments. Since 2017, Tom has been recognized by Super Lawyers magazine as a "Rising Star" among business litigation attorneys in the Mountain West.
